Dear Reader,

Happy New Year!
I hope you had a wonderful holiday and are looking forward to this new year and decade with hope.   I am very excited to share new information, products and resources with you.  I have set  goals for myself and for my business and look forward to working on them throughout the year.  One of my goals was to keep "Visions" looking fresh.  I have made a few changes to the format and will continue to add items of interest.

This month's issue will feature one of my latest design projects, a dental office renovation in Locust, NC, five trends to look for in 2010, and the color of the year-Turquoise.

Please feel free to call me a 704-362-1397 or contact me at rosa@rosadestinteriors.com  with any questions or comments.

Wishing you and your family the best for 2010.

                     Dental office Transformation
one of my most recent projects

"Rosa transformed a project that looked overwhelming to manageable.  In a matter of two months the office went from an eye sore to an office eyes could not believe."  Richard Dest, DDS.

I recently had the opportunity of working for my husband remodeling a dental office.  Yes, I said husband and believe it or not it wasn't too bad.

The dental office located in Locust, NC was built in the late 1970's and had been vacant for six months prior to the renovation.  Needless to say it was in pretty bad shape when we first saw it.  To everyone involved in the project it looked hopeless, but I could see it had potential.

By making a few cosmetic changes such as removing the popcorn ceiling,  fluorescent box lighting and of course the metal Levolor blinds the office started to take shape.  The lighting was updated to can lighting and the carpeting replaced by a commercial grade carpet for durability.

"Rosa saw the potential in the office where others did not.  My partners and I are pleased to have taken this project on, and are grateful to Rosa for helping us to realize the potential the building had". Richard Dest, DDS

Wallpaper had been ripped off of the walls, wires were dangling from the ceiling, the laminate counter tops were pink and the office looked sad.

It's not every day one of my projects has a ribbon cutting ceremony and bar-b-que celebration.  Of course, it was not for me but for the office, still it was pretty exciting.

I don't think the city of Locust was quite ready for these two clowns.

Five Trends to look for in 2010

A new year with new looks and new ideas. The trend in the home industry tends to reflect what we see on the runways.  So if you enjoy looking in fashion magazines you will be sure to see similarities in the shelter magazines.

1.  For 2010, we are continuing to see a trend toward home improvements.  Whether it is a remodel such as updating your kitchen or bathroom or a fresh coat of paint throughout your home, invest in a project that you and your family will benefit from.

2.  Green is in!  Anything energy efficient is in.
When it comes to Green in home furnishings, people will be looking to natural materials such as reclaimed wood and organic fabrics.

3.   Rooms  that feel lived in and are rich with character and comfort.

4.  Rough-hewn surfaces in home furnishings inspired to bring casualness to the room.

5.  A return to the classics, both contemporary and traditional. Simplicity, simplifying details and expressing structural elements.

Color  with Confidence
                   Color of the Year 2010

Pantone, the world -renowned authority on colour has selected Pantone 15-5519TCX, Turquoise as the color for 2010.
I Love it!

                                                                                                                            turquoise

Turquoise, a color combining the serene qualities of blue and the invigorating aspects of green should add excitement to this new decade.
Turquoise takes my mind to the Caribbean and that in itself  makes me wish I was there and puts a smile on my face.
Added in your home it offers a comforting escape from the every day challenges of life.
With it's warm and cool undertones, turquoise will complement reds and pinks, excite neutrals and browns and liven up greens and blues.
If your ready to make a change,  try it  and see how it makes your home feel.

Thanks for taking the time to read this edition of "Visions"I hope you will share it with your friends.  Forward to a Friend
