Dear Rosa,

November is the month for giving thanks therefore, I would like to begin this e-zine with a note of thanks to all of you.  Family, friends, clients, trade partners and business associates - Thank YOU for your support to me and to my business.

I also wanted to thank you for your comments on the October Green-zine edition.  I received lots of comments regarding sustainability.  "Green" is a topic  that either initiates discussion or stirs up curiosity and questions all of which are great as we learn to embrace the lifestyle.

Fall in the interior design industry is quite a busy one and this one has been no different.
Begining with folks trying to get a few things accomplished in preparation for the holidays.  We all seem to get excited this time of year to come up with something  new and different or perhaps just a twist on the traditional.  I will share some table settings to give you ideas of how you can make your table look festive for the holidays.  As part of our design services we do offer holiday designs.  If you are planning a special event and feel completely frustrated or are creatively challenged, please feel free to contact me at rosa@rosadestinteriors.com and I will be happy to go over the services we offer and pricing.

The High Point Furniture market also during  October continues to attract big names such as Thom Filicia   showing his new line of furniture.  I have featured  what is HOT this fall in home furnishings.

           Preparing that Perfect

            Holiday Centerpiece

As we get into the spirit of the holidays and Thanksgiving approaches, we begin to think about decorating our homes  in preparation for getting together with family and friends.  What better place to start than with our dining room tabes.  I like to do things as simply as possible and always ahead of time in order to stay calm and enjoy the moment.  With that being said, "the table" always sets the tone.  Following you will see Seven Creative Ideas and explanations as to how to keep it simple yet timeless and elegant.

                         Let's begin with Formal

            Nov. fomal table

             White hydrangeas with Pepperberries

Fresh Flowers, a must on your table.

Picked from your garden or purchased, fresh flowers are a must.  You can find beautiful flowers just about anywhere from your grocery store, to your local florist or visit the Regional Farmers market where you will find beautifully combined bouquets already made. The key is to select flowers that will make you happy yet work nicely with the dinnerwear and linens you will be using.

A side note to keep in mind, is the flowers scent.  Do not use anything with a strong scent, it will compete with the flavors of your food.

Notice the scale of the arrangement, keep it low for conversation.

                              Ooohh the Candles!

                             nov. candles

Don't be afraid to mix the candlesticks and the size of the candles, variety is the spice of life.  Avoid using scented candles on the table for the same reason as the scented flowers.  This needs to be the focal point not the competition.

                                Just have FUN

        Nov pumpkin centerpiece

                     A Casual and Fun Centerpiece

Use your pumpkin from Halloween, place it in a  wreath made with Bittersweet, soround it with candles and set the table with your casual dinner wear.

                                     Add Whimsy

Add a whimsical touch to your centerpiece, turkey candles and Peacock feathers create an element of surprise.

                              Flowers and Vegetables

                   flowers

Use a combination of flowers and vegetables, this will add interest to your centerpiece.  The trick is to pull colors together that complement one another.

Be creative, find containers that are unusual, keeping in mind their size and scale.

                       What's HOT

               High Point furniture Market

People are not buying to throw away, instead chosing to invest their money on  quality, simplicity, durability and a story of craftsmanship.

I know I keep talking about it, but GREEN is a BIG buzzword and creating excitement in the furniture industry.  Selling unique products; using low VOC finishes, shifting away from resin toward stone, reclaimed wood, and reclycled materials and using products proudly made in the USA.
