 Designing with a Vision

Rosa Plaza Dest

I guess you could call me an almost native Charlottean.  I have been calling Charlotte home for the last 30 years when my parents moved our family the summer after I graduated from high school.  This is the longest place I have ever lived. Being one of seven kids, moving was inevitable.  I have lived in Colombia, SA; Rock Hill, SC; Greenville, SC and Dallas, TX.
Born in Colombia,  traveling has always been a part of my life and I love it!  I have been exposed to many cultures and have met many wonderful people whose lives have influenced me tremendously.
I met my husband  of 25 years soon after graduating from college.  We  as a family all have the travel bug and will go practically anywhere given the opportunity.  However, I will say Kiawah has won our hearts for a relaxing and rejuvinating place were tennis and the beach are a must.

My professional career as an interior designer began in 2001.  After raising my three children I decided it was time to follow my passion in interior design and continue with my education.

Having received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a concentration in Cothing and Textiles,
I pursued a design degree through the Sheffield school of Interior Design.

Since receiving my interior design degree I became certified as a professional through the Interior Design Society by successfully passing the CQRID exam (Council for Qualification of Residential Interior Designers).
I have also been published in "Charlotte Designs", a coffee table book featuring local designers and benefiting Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte; become a Certified Dewy Color Consultant and an accomplished Floral Designer under the direction of Alice Collier.

An avid believer in giving back to the community, I am civically active and have served on serveral boards including:  The Interior Design Society  Charlotte chapter, KinderMourn, and the Charlotte Dental Auxiliary.  Currently, I have partnered with Habitat for  Humanity of Charlotte and am teaching classes to their new homeowners.

Being an international traveler and bilingual in Spanish, I continue to expand my knowledge of design by attending seminars around the country, researching new ideas and staying abreast of green and global design trends.
Sensible design, a keen eye for details and a commitment to quality service are hallmarks of my work.  The results are Designing for YOU with a Vision!
